Furniture Care and Cleaning

Miller’s Furniture strongly encourages consumers to follow manufacturers’ recommendations for cleaning and maintenance of every furniture or floor covering purchase; Miller’s carries a large variety of cleaning and care products for fabric and leather upholstery, wood furniture surfaces as well as carpet, tile, laminate and hardwood flooring.

If you have purchased upholstered furniture (either fabric or leather), it is of critical importance for you to identify the applicable upholstery cleaning code associated with the item (e.g., S, W, WS, or X for fabric upholstery or “Aniline,” “Protected,” or “Nubuck” for leather) before trying to remove a stain—this includes attempting to clean the piece with any cleaning products, or, for instance, even using a damp cloth.  Each code represents a tool to assist you in identifying the safest and most effective cleaning products or agents; it may also provide information on the specific cleaning techniques recommended for the product, based on that code.  In addition, if you have purchased any fabric and/or leather protection policies, it is imperative that you follow the applicable instructions listed on the warranty card regarding the appropriate documentation and reporting of the incident, as may be required.

We are especially pleased that so many of our manufacturers offer care and cleaning tips with instructions right on their websites.  For example, Huntington House and West Bros. Furniture provide general guidelines that you may find useful to care for any of your upholstered or solid wood furniture pieces.  You may also find it convenient to download or print the particularly valuable furniture care tips guide from Guardsman, a leading manufacturer of furniture care & cleaning products.
